Biodynamic Craniosacral is a right brained experience in a left brained culture.

I practice Biodynamic Craniosacral work into my day to day living. I notice that the more I orient to my midline, the more differentiated and neutral I can be with what is happening. Things can feel upside down from time to time on the outside. Knowing that my system is organized around “the force”, “the Health”, whatever you may call it keeps me more centered. It is a Divine Structure we all have, at all times. The Blueprint/the Force is most clearly felt in our spine.
What do I consider my midline?
My body is formed after conception from biodynamic forces. The blueprint started to create my body. As an adult my midline is located in my spine, which is derived from my notochord. The notochord is an embryological anatomical place that eventually becomes the center of my vertebral discs (nucleus pulposus), all my vertebral bodies, up though the cranial base. To this day we all still have a connection to our original blueprint. Focusing on one’s Blueprint brings grounding, enlightenment, and strength.
I chose to study the spine in great detail as a Chiropractor when I was 21 years old. Innately I knew this was where my Blueprint, my strength is. This is the place where the energy meets the body and crosses over constantly connecting intelligence to my structure, my body. The midline is written about in many ancient practices such as Yoga, and Chinese Medicine.
My midline helps me stay present, calm, and safe. I orient to it as a daily practice.
The more you focus on your original blueprint, the more you are strengthening your relationship to a greater wisdom and Health rather than life circumstances. The spine and midline connect us all to the Breath of Life/ The Source. Since we do have a body, why not be in it as fully as we can?

When I started experimenting by focusing on my midline I began noticing that it had a calming effect on people around me. It did not matter if I was sharing a conversation, or giving a treatment.
When I stepped out of my midline and strongly oriented to an emotion, or mental state, of myself or another person, I would feel the energy field become more activated. I began noticing buzzing sensations, and speediness in my nervous system. Listening to my body gives me information around what is happening with myself and in relationship to others. Nervous system speed seems to have a disconnecting effect on the body from the source.
If you want to experiment, try noticing where your spine is at first on your own, and then when you relate to another person. You may find a sense of settling in yourself and with others. The conversation may deepen, and be more connected. Be sure to orient to the bones of the spine and not the spinal cord or sympathetic chain ganglia that go along the spine. If you orient to the nervous system things will probably feel speedy and buzzy, if you orient to the bones things will probably feel more neutral and grounded.
I consider my midline my “Joan of Arc” space, where nothing can unsettle me. It is my sacred space, and my connection to the “Blueprint”. Anna Chitty one of the founding teachers of Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy coined the term Blueprint in our work.
Next time you are feeling disconnected, tired, activated; take a moment to notice your midline, your Blueprint, and your Force. It's always right there with you.
